Athletes that successfully complete the season, will
need to score 25 points in order to letter.
Points can be earned in the following ways:
q
3 points for starting on the first day of practice with a yellow
clearance card.
q
5 points for having a parent at the parent meeting.
q
5 points for each home meet that a parent works.
q
2 points for competition in each of the regular season dual or triangle
meet.
q
1 point for every point earned in varsity competition.
In addition to scoring 25 pts, the athlete will have
to meet the minimum qualifying standards in any single event. (See chart
below.)
An athlete that has not reached the 25 points needed to
letter, but has met the qualifying standard in two events and receives the vote
of all coaching staff members will earn a letter.
A senior that competes, attends all practices, team
meetings, and finishes the regular season, the senior will be awarded a varsity
letter.
There are 13 weeks in our track & field season.
If at any time you miss more than one practice in a week, for any reason, you
will not be prepared physically or mentally and will not be able to compete in
the next competition. If you miss a meet
for any reason other than illness, injury, or family EMERGENCY, you will lose 20 points from your letter
total. If you miss a meet due to grade
checks or athletic code violation, you will lose ALL letter points and have to
start over at 0. If you miss a Team
Meeting you will also loose all team points to that date. If you fail to
complete the track & field season you will not letter for
