Olympic League Syllabus 2008

Here is information on our league meet. Sub-district info to follow when schedule issue is resolved.

We look forward to providing all of our athletes with a properly administered and staged championship meet. In an effort to assist in this goal, please take careful note of the following important information:

1. Safety is our primary concern. Please have athletes follow directions of meet personnel at all times.

Adults & Students w/o ASB $5.00
Students w/ASB $3.00
Elementary $3.00 (under 6 free)

6. Meet Information (all Federation Rules will apply at this meet)

a. Field event implements will be submitted for inspection at the coaches portable (west side of stadium):

S.P. Boys: 4-4:30 Thurs.; Girls: 10-10:30 Sat.
Disc. Girls: 2-2:30 Thurs.; Boys: 10-10:30 Sat.
Jav. Boys: 2-2:30 Thurs.; Girls: 12:30-1 Sat.

Note: Pole vault pole & competitor weight certification requirements must be met. Submit pole vault forms to event official prior to competition.

b. The infield will have flagged off areas designated for coaches. The infield is otherwise restricted for coaches.

c. The 4x200 & 4x400 will run a three (3) turn stagger.

d. Eight (8) will be taken to the finals in field events with finals.

e. Athletes in all running events must report to the clerk, and field event athletes to the event site, at or before 2nd call (10 minutes before the start of the event). A coach may check-in an athlete if they are competing in concurrent events. Athletes who have not reported by the 3rd call will be scratched from the event and meet.

f. Individual event and relay scoring: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

g. Coaches meeting will be at 2:30 on Friday.

h. Uniform and jewelry regulations will be enforced. Coaches are requested to review these with their teams (especially throwers & relays) prior to the meet.

i. Make sure all athletes & coaches are aware of the rules governing the use of electronic devices on the track, infield, and event sites.(NFHS Rule 4, Section 5, Article 8)

j. Individual awards 1st – 8th: Places and times will be announced as soon as results are available. Athletes are to immediately report to the awards stand when called for presentation of awards.

k. Each field event flight will be given a 5-minute warm-up.

l. Opening heights will be determined at the seeding meeting:
Boys and girls PV: 6” below lowest qualifier
Boys and girls HJ: 2” below lowest qualifier

m. Coaches will meet at the end of the meet (Saturday) to review sub-district meet procedures/timelines, and to confirm official’s names for payment.

n. Protest should first be directed to the referee. Appeals of the referee’s decision are to be directed to the jury of appeals (games committee). Protests must be in writing, include the page & rule numbers (from the NFHS Rules Book) of the rule whose interpretation is in question, and be submitted within 30 minutes of the announcement of the official event results.

Note: It is the responsibility of the assigned school to provide a competent adult official to serve as the paid official, and to provide any other ancillary workers needed to properly stage the event. Students may be used for these roles, but not in any officiating capacity.

Timing: An automated (FAT) timing system will be used.

q. All participants (athletes, officials, & coaches) are
