About: A baseball/softball skills competition for kids ages 7-14 (age as of July 17th). Each participant will throw 6 pitches at a strike zone target, do a timed run from second base to home plate, and hit the ball off a tee for distance. Boys and girls compete separately for the first time this year. Metal cleats are not allowed for the competition. There is no charge to participate, and the winners advance to the sectional competition. From there the winners have the chance to move on to the Team Championships at Safeco Field, then the National Finals at the Major League All Star game. Participants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate. Boys will compete at 1:00, girls will compete at 3:00.

About: Join the PAHS varsity players and coaches for the annual Rider Baseball Clinic. This season we will be doing the clinic on a Saturday morning, rain or shine. Our coaches and players will be teaching fundamental skills that will benefit every player regardless of skill level. We will provide a positive learning environment where everyone can be successful. It’s a great opportunity for your child to meet and spend time with our players and pick up some new skills that will help them with their upcoming seasons! As always, any area coaches who would like to attend are invited to come and talk with the coaches about our program and we’ll glady explain any drills or skills to you. We will also have copies of many of the drills and skills we teach in our program for those who would like them. We hope to see you there.

About: Workshop for coaches on optimizing performance and injury prevention
for athletes. Despite the range of physical demands in various athletic
activities, ALL SPORTS require two critical and related functions from the
athlete’s trunk muscles (core): stabilize the spinal column and transfer
energy between the lower and upper body. Every swing, stroke, throw and kick
emanates from the core.
The evening will consist of 15 minutes explanation of the core and how it
relates to the ability of the athlete, 30 minutes of actual Pilates work out
designed specifically for athletes and 30 minutes discussion on what you
think your athletes need and how we can best help to support that.
There will be no cost, just bring your water bottles, work out clothes and
your great ideas.
